As a Business Opportunity Specialist (BOS), works with small businesses within the San Diego District that are socially or economically disadvantaged and enrolled in the SBA’s 8(a) Business Development Program.

As a BOS, I have managed the portfolios of between 42 - 45 small businesses per year in the 8(a) business development program. For three weeks, I managed the portfolios of 91 8(a) firms. I review business plans, conduct new orientation, write search letters, assist firms with their mentor protégé packages and joint venture packages, and position my firms best to receive contracts from government and non-government agencies. I am extremely delighted to accept 8(a) sole source offer letters from federal agencies. $919,901,962 in federal government contracts were offered to 8(a) firms within the San Diego District in FY 2017.

I volunteered my time for 9 years to co-facilitate a four-day course called Business Transitioning Seminar. This was a FREE course offered to military personnel of all ranks three times a year at Camp Pendleton. Military veterans, active duty, reservists and military spouses are welcome to join!

It was taught by experienced business executives and panelists from across the country, several who were Marine and Navy Officers.
