Management of a US$20 million mezzanine finance fund (CAREC fund, www.eandcocapital.com) that invests in renewable energy, energy efficiency and cleaner production projects and companies in Central America. Had leading participation in the creation, structuring, fundraising and closing of this fund, which started operating in August 2006. Majority investors in this fund are the Multilateral Investment Fund of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Central American Bank of Economic Integration. Other investors with whom active interaction occurred regularly include European development banks. As CEO of E+Co Capital, General Partner in CAREC, the main responsibilities included management of the fund, pipeline development, managing staff, performing portfolio asset management and executing exit of investee companies, leading the fund’s corporate governance and representing the fund at international venture capital forums. E+Co Capital seeks to manage investment portfolios of US $100+ million within the next five years. The E+Co Capital CEO also acted as Managing Director of E+Co (holding company) participating on strategic decisions of the group of companies that operate globally, and participated as observer on E+Co’s Board meetings.
